Stumpjumper Trail Crew Launches

posted by id* at 09:32 PM on December 16, 2009

Stumpjumper Trail Crew launches with a BANG!

After a lengthy application and consideration process, involving hundreds of applications via Twitter and blogs, Specialized has selected 8 stellar advocates to join the Stumpjumper Trail Crew, with a diverse cast that includes a college professor, an Australian-based IT professional, and an American Gold Medal winning Olympic snowboarder.  They’ll all spend the next year riding the redesigned 2010 Stumpjumper, and helping us get the word out about just how much this bike can do.

Trail crew members will be regularly blogging and tweeting about their new bikes on a group blog, as well as leading group rides in their local communities and working as advocates for the sport overall. On a few special occasions, the Trail Crew members will also be getting together for epic ride weekends in legendary mountain bike destinations.

“Since I was a kid Specialized has been my favorite bike to ride” said Trail Crew member Ross Powers, who won Olympic gold in 2002 in the halfpipe. “I'm so stoked to try out the new Stumpjumper.”  Other Trail Crew members include Aren Timmel from Chico, California, who runs a kids mountain bike camp with his wife, and also manages the Team Chico Cycling Club.  The Trail Crew also brings together deep ties into trail advocacy, including guys like John Fredrich from Montana, who led the development of the Montana Mountain Bike Network, a grassroots organization dedicated to statewide trail maintenance and protection.
